Winterization

To prevent costly damage during freezing weather, BigState performs comprehensive winterization services. Winterization involves draining and protecting a property’s plumbing system when a home will be vacant during winter months. Standard winterization tasks include turning off the main water supply, draining water lines and water heater, blowing out pipes with air pressure, and adding non-toxic antifreeze to all traps, toilets, and fixtures. We also winterize any applicable appliances (like dishwashers or washing machines) and ensure lawn sprinkler systems or pools are properly winterized if needed. The team will post clear “winterized” notices on the plumbing fixtures and main entrance. We follow all investor and insurer guidelines for winterization – for example, using the correct antifreeze types and concentrations and tagging systems – to ensure compliance. Quality benchmarks: all plumbing is 3 4 5 2 secured against freeze damage (verified by pressure testing where required) and the property meets HUD/FHA or investor-specific winterization specifications . Our crews perform a post-winterization inspection of the property’s interior to confirm there are no active leaks and that heating systems are set appropriately if left on. We also offer de-winterization services when needed (for instance, if the property is scheduled for inspection, appraisal, or conveyance, we can flush and re-activate the plumbing on short notice).
